La comicidad en Aristófanes

Gil Fernández, Luis

This paper tries to establish a minimal theoretical basis for a systematic study of Aristophanes' comic effectiveness. Three elements are distinguished here: an intellectual (originallity, fancy), an emotional (arousal of sadistic and sexual drives, resort to scatology, iteration), and a social element (taking sides with popular interests and tastes). These elements are displayed in a situational and verbal form of humour in which the techniques of parody, contrast and aprosdoketon play an essential role. Finally, comic effects are also achieved by means of performance (declamation style, costumes, scenery). Characters are imitative or representative. The comic effectiveness of the former lies in caricature (exaggeration and debasement of famous indivuals features and actions), and stereotyping (atribution of fixed patterns considered as representative of social groups).

El adverbio πρίν y el autor C del Corpus Hippocraticum

García Novo, Elsa

The use of the adverb πρίν is reviewed in the Corpus Hippocraticum ,stressing the high frequency detected in Morb. IV, Genit. / Nat. Puer.and the chapters of Mul. I and Mul. II described to be by the same author. His peculiar and probably hapax use of πρὶνἢὅκου + indicative could have a parallel in the Homeric πρὶνγ' ὅτε + indicative , although it is not to be seen as an archaism, but as a feature of the originality and tendency to variation of this author.
