Following some consideration of the formal structure of the mythical narration in the Pindaric Odes, the author puts forward arguments and analyzes several examples to demostrate that the function of the myths is not «decorative» but rather that they form a unit with the remainder of the poem.

Little attention has been paid to word-formation by scholars who have carried out research on Ancient Greek in the last decades. The emphasis of research has almost always fallen on formal aspects whereas the content has not been studied so much. From this point of view, it is considered nowadays there are two lines of research whose application to Ancient Greek would be of tremendous benefit. The first one comes from the German school of the Sprachinhaltsforschung or research into linguistic content; Professor Leo Weisgerber is the greatest expert in the field. The other line of research is represented by E. Coseriu and his semantic structural and functional school (lexematic) in the University of Tubinga. The line of teaching of these two tendencies have developed a series of concepts and procedures of analysis which appear us most useful in the semantic study of the prefix δυσ-.

The aim of this paper is to insist again on the experience which the Greeks show about the lived time through the ancient poetic texts. Two consequences seem to be taken out from the way in which they considered human life on that stage. Chilhood is a phase of human development insufficiently regarded, perhaps because of its inmaturity. Life's experience («vivencia») appears mainly as an opposition between youthness and the old age.

The circumstances governing the occurrence of infinitive or mood in the πρίν-sentence of the V/IV centuries are redefined both semantically and syntactically. The results are based upon the CH and could be applied at least to the literarary Ionian and Attic dialects since the middle of the V century until the middle of the IV century.

Esteban Santos, Alicia

Plato's Phaedrus is a work of strong contrasts: in the form and in the content. Thus, of the two parts into which it is divided, one consists of discourses and the other of a dialogue; one is practical and the other theoretical; one is about ἔρως and the other about λόγος. Nevertheless, the most significant antithesis appears between the extreme passages (prologue and epilogue) and the central one (the second discourse of Socrates), with regard to the structure as well as to the meaning, and in every aspect: space, time, movement, characters and, specially, in the ontologic level. In fact, the sensitive world of the images and appearances is opposed to the intelligible world of the Reality, in the same way as exterior and interior, nature and man, body and soul are opposed.

The Hellenism's activity under the Ottoman Empire in search of help from the christian states to get free from turkish rule was constant along the centuries. In the 2nd half of the XVIth century and the beginning of the XVIIth, a lot of requests were sent to the Spanish Court. The author offers us a new episode of this activity, namely the letters that an unknown Demetrius sent in 1552-1553 to the Emperor Charles V, which are kept in Madrid. He also tries to clarify the identity of this Demetrius, but the scarcity of our data doesn't let him arrive to any sure conclusion.

Escobar Chico, Ángel

The reception of Aristotelian ἐσωτερικοὶ λόγοι in Rome (I b. C.) has been a frequently debated issue. An examination of Cicero's works (some aspects of his theory on dreams and De divinatione in this paper) shows that his more or less literal quotations of Aristoteles could be relatively abundant, even if his sources -direct or indirect- are controversial.

Una aproximación comparativa al problema de ἀΐζηλος, ἀΐδηλος, ἠίθεος

Prósper, Blanca María

The purpose of this paper is to recover from Homeric evidence the existence of a (locative?) adverb *°H2wi / *°H2wis, which is identical to the Indoeuropean separative adverb and prefix traditionally thought of as *wi(-) / *wis and belongs to the stem *H2eu. A related form with a different (directive?) ending *°H2w-a / -°H may be found in the yet unexplained gloss ἄ(F)αθι.
